The Mission

To Spread the Good News of Jesus Christ
One Heart at a Time

Picture

Equip

Our mission begins by equipping our people with relevant information and awareness regarding the problems holding people back from their purpose.
Picture

Restore

Complete freedom from sin's captivity is promised through Jesus Christ. We desire for Christians to experience healing and to enjoy their desires as God designed.

Empower

As we experience restoration, we are released to live a full life of passion. We seek to prepare Christians to go forward in empowering their own community.

WHAT IS THE RISEN?

"We therefore were buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life." -Romans 6:4
The Risen is a non-denominational Christian organization dedicated to spreading the good news of Jesus Christ through creative means. It all started when several of our team members found themselves around a fire, just outside of Yellowstone National Park. We contemplated the frustration surrounding a world where Christians seem to have more questions than answers. We wanted to create a place where tough questions were addressed through simple biblical principles.

Thus The Risen was born. Our first course, Pure, addresses the struggles associated with sexual addiction (self-gratification, porngraphy, fornication, etc.). From here, we've continued to develop material on topics that don't have easy answers. We believe that through Christ, we are set free from our old nature. Our old self was of the world and acted as the world did, giving in to whatever suited our own desires. No matter how dark our lives were before Jesus, as Christians we've been shown the way to light. Just as he died and rose again, so have we died and rose from our old nature.
BE BRILLIANT

WE'RE ABOUT HEART TRANSFORMATION

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” -Proverbs 4:23
The heart in Proverbs 4:23 is not literal, rather figurative. It defines the “who” in “who we are.” In the original Hebrew, the word lêb was chosen, which is broadly used throughout scripture to describe a person’s feelings, will, and intellect. In this sense, the "heart" makes up the core or essence of who we are. It is not without reason that we're told to guard our hearts - they can be broken or lost. This is not to be confused with losing our salvation or relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

To understand what it means to lose ourselves we must understand who we’re meant to be in the first place. Ephesians 2:10 states: “For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” We are meant to “do the good things" that God "planned for us long ago.” When we struggle with addiction, identity crisis, depression, or sin in general, we fail to protect our heart and instead stray from what we were created for.

For those who are in Christ Jesus, we are permanently under grace from that moment forward (John 5:24, John 10:28, 1 John 5:13, Romans 10:13, Ephesians 2:8-9). This is called justification. We are also called to work out, or continue in our faith through obedience to Christ (2 Timothy 2:21, 1 Thessalonians 5:23). This is called sanctification. Justification is instantaneous, whereas sanctification is a process that occurs over time - the act of drawing closer to God through obedience.

When we struggle in sin we have not lost our justification, we are simply not carrying out our sanctification. In other words, our salvation is not in question, but our heart, or lêb, has begun to stray from its purpose. So when we say, “Take back your heart,” what we’re saying is, “Take back who you are (lêb) and carry out your purpose through sanctification.”
